7 standout bathroom design ideas from 2025 worth revisiting

“In Goa, colour is part of everyday life. The houses, streets, and interiors often have bright, joyful tones, and we wanted to bring that feeling inside without overwhelming the calm, earthy palette of the villa,” shares Naina Nagpal, pointing to Villa Giulietta which she designed with her sibling Varun Nagpal, both co-founders of Vianaar. Set in Assagao, a village that’s quickly become a buzzy It spot for swish holiday homes and the finest restaurants in the state, the home in contrast sits on a quieter bend, atop a gentle rise, surrounded by trees and terracotta-tiled roofs. Tactile and intentional, the bathrooms feature a distinctly Goan sensibility with the trimmings of contemporary design. In a meditative biophilic bathroom, patterned tiles and concrete finishes celebrate local craft in a fresh, contemporary way. A soft green hue carries through the entire space, creating a chic, monotone visual.

Traveller, music lover, avid reader, and art connoisseur are some of the adjectives Nishita Kamdar, principal architect at her eponymous studio, uses to describe her client who commissioned this project. The homeowner lives with his wife, their son, and his parents in this 2,800-square-foot apartment at Breach Candy in South Mumbai. The ensuite bathroom in the master bedroom strays from the dark palette with the use of colourful China mosaic tiles on the walls. “We ensured that the functionality of the home does not come in the way of its aesthetics. Its detailing and accent pieces make it a modern seaside oasis,” says Kamdar. The bath space features a Jaisalmer stone basin counter. Of all the bathroom design ideas one comes across, mosaic tiling offers an India-Modern interpretation of a classic tile form.

A Colourful Grout

On their first visit to the Goan village of Corjuem, architects Teja Amonkar and Yatin Fulari of Goa-based Field Atelier felt a deep connection to the landscape. “It was special,” says Amonkar of the rural stretch. A narrow, winding road flanked by coconut trees led up to the site, and at the centre stood two towering trees, resplendent against the otherwise barren rear side, as if marking the land’s quiet, dignified heart. In many ways, the trees dictated the architecture, setting the tone for a home in Goa that would nestle gently into its surroundings rather than assert itself over them.
