‘Outdoor furniture is becoming almost indistinguishable from indoor furniture,’ says Challie Stillman from Resource Furniture. ‘The lines are softer, the materials more tactile, and the palettes more refined. Many pieces look like they could just as easily work in your living room, and that’s exactly the point. People want their patio furniture ideas to be just as stylish and comfortable as the rest of their home, and now the furniture finally supports that vision.’

After refreshing my own space with some of these outdoor furniture trends, I can genuinely say my garden has never felt more inviting, or more me. And the best part? You don’t need a full overhaul – just one or two well-chosen pieces to shift the mood. And these trends offer the perfect jumping-off point to create an outdoor space that truly reflects your style.
1. Stripes

We all love to decorate with stripes indoors, but have you taken them outside yet? This season, stripes are showing up everywhere – and I’m not just talking about the classic navy-and-white deckchair combo.
‘Stripes outdoors aren’t just a trend – they’re a visual through-line that’s spanned everything from Victorian deckchairs to Slim Aarons-style pool scenes and that effortless Hamptons charm,’ explains Louisa Tratalos, founder of Colours of Arley. ‘What feels new right now is how bold people are getting with their color choices. I’m a particular fan of when wide stripes are used as a base and layered with cushions in mixed stripe widths or checks in the same palette. It adds a hit of fun and personality, while still feeling thoughtful and beautifully pulled together.’
This season, stripes are showing up outdoors in bolder, more unexpected ways: think chunky cabana stripes on oversized cushions, tonal ticking on upholstery, and even playful trims that add a fun feel to a garden setup.
‘We’re seeing a growing number of fabric houses offering signature prints in outdoor-ready finishes,’ adds designer Lauren Gilberthorpe. ‘A particular favourite is Balcony Stripe by Nicky Haslam for Jean Monro, which launched earlier this year – a playful yet timeless stripe pattern that feels entirely at home in an outdoor setting.’

‘There’s something quietly romantic about vintage-style garden furniture, especially wrought iron,’ agrees co-founder of Olive Ateliers, Laura Sotelo. ‘It evokes memories of European courtyards and sun-dappled afternoons. You can feel why people are drawn to it, not just for the look but for the feeling it creates, a sense of permanence, patina, and presence. Wrought iron has roots in centuries-old craftsmanship, and in today’s world of the disposable and mass-produced, that kind of weight and soul resonates.’
Whether it’s a dainty bistro set or an ornate garden bench, wrought iron brings an old-world elegance to outdoor spaces that modern materials just can’t replicate. ‘Mediterranean inspiration is big, add terracotta pots, olive trees, linen tablecloths, and handmade ceramics,’ suggests Leigh Lincoln, co-founder & principal designer at Pure Salt Interiors.
