3 Bathroom Vanity Colors That Are Outdated In 2025

When you walk into a bathroom, the vanity is often the first thing you notice. Unsurprisingly, it has a way of making or breaking the personality and look of a space. You can easily upgrade decor like your bath towels, but painting or staining a vanity is a little more involved. Is it time to give yours a refresh? Take a look at these bathroom vanity colors designers say are outdated and get inspired by the ones that are trending in 2025.

Outdated Bathroom Vanity Colors

Yellowy White

Prominent in the 1990s and early 2000s, Liz Williams, founder and principal designer of her namesake interior design firm in Atlanta, Georgia, clarifies that white will always be a classic—it’s the yellow undertones that feel like a throwback. “If you pair it with daylight/blue LED bulbs, you’ll make your vanity feel even older,” adds Bess Pooler, a designer at Summer House Lifestyle in Grayton Beach, Florida.

Cool Gray

“Every designer had their gray phase,” Pooler says. “The time has come to let it go and let in natural light and warmth—let’s make the home cozy again.” Cool, light-medium grays, in particular, have a way of instantly aging bathrooms, and according to Gabriela Eisenhart, founder and principal designer of Silo Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, standard shaker-style doors just add to the vibe.

Dark Wood

Dark mahogany- and cherry-stained wood used to be popular options, but Debbie Mathews LeRoy, founder and principal designer of Debbie Mathews Antiques & Designs in Nashville, Tennessee, says the moment has definitely passed. “It’s been quite some time since I have had a client request either of them,” she explains.

Trending Bathroom Vanity Colors

Crisp White

As Williams mentioned before, white will always be timeless, but “crisp” doesn’t have to mean “stark.” Shades with her stamp of approval include Benjamin Moore’s White Dove and Cotton Balls, which she says “have a clean look that feel fresh and modern on bathroom vanities.”

Warm Neutrals

“I personally believe colors like cream, khaki, and tan are timeless, and don’t have a short expiration date,” says Mathews LeRoy. These have depth without leaning yellow, making them modern instead of dated.

“Warm grays are also definitely on trend,” Williams adds. “They pair wonderfully with natural elements like marble, giving the bathroom a more sophisticated and modern feel.”

Light-Medium Wood

These wood tones have been big for Mathews LeRoy’s clients, as well as clients of Gabriela Eisenhart, founder and principal designer of Silo Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. “As of late, I have been embracing a more custom, furniture-forward approach with vanity design, as it adds greater depth and detail than prefabricated styles,” she explains.

Pale Hues

To Williams, a soft color like, subtle light blue “is such a beautiful choice because it adds personality while still achieving a serene feel.” Plus, she says it complements wallpaper really well—which is also having a major moment right now.
