This villa in Pune—a 4,000-square-foot sanctuary for a family of five—is a serene, tranquil retreat designed to ease the mind and soothe the soul. Sahiba Madan of Insitu Design Studio took on the task of designing this home that fosters quality family time while also offering private retreats for individual moments of solitude. On the design process, Sahiba shares, “At Insitu, we aimed to create a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic, incorporating natural materials, soft hues, and organic textures—resulting in a design that is both modern and inviting.” The design of the space draws inspiration from organic forms, natural textures, and earthy materials, emphasising fluid, curvilinear lines, and warm tones. The design process involved experimentation with the materiality of each area, while thoughtfully addressing the family’s functional needs across multiple zones.
The master bathroom is a spa-like retreat bathed in natural light from a skylight above. The bathroom includes a freestanding tub positioned directly under the skylight, a walk-in shower, and dual sinks centred in the room, with a mirror suspended from the ceiling to enhance the open, airy feel. The warm, neutral tonal palette imbues the space with a mud-like feel, which is further accentuated by the spritely forest green corner. Stone basins, smooth pebbles, natural light, all add to the biophilic aesthetic of this master bathroom. Blurring the lines between the indoors and outdoors, this space is a luxurious retreat into the tranquility of nature.

Nestled among century-old mango and coconut trees in a quiet, residential neighbourhood in Koramangala, this Bengaluru home is a sanctuary and forever home for a young couple and their two little boys. In what appears to be their first architectural project, Bengaluru-based interior practice Studio Ruh, in collaboration with Stumbha Architects, has designed this home from the ground up, crafting an interior that honours the natural splendour enveloping it. Spread across two levels; this residence is intricately woven with lush green pockets and serene waterbodies to invite light, softness, and greenery into every corner of this home. “Connection to landscape inspires the layout of this Bengaluru home—incorporating lush vegetation, wooden louvres, and raw natural stones,” principal designer Kavya explains.
