When it comes to 2025 bathroom trends, vintage-inspired looks are huge, so now is an excellent time to experiment with bold colors and patterns, designers say. Whether it’s a vibrant floral wallpaper, bright tile, or rosy metallic tones, these design choices add personality and visual interest to your space. Read on to learn more about five of their favorite retro bathroom design schemes that are too good to be forgotten.
Wallpapers with Ornate Patterns
Daniel Angulo
Gone are the days of super simple bathrooms. Take a cue from your childhood bath and embrace a fun printed wallpaper—Carly Filbin, the founder of Blue Jay Interiors, says that this look is making a comeback. Here, she installed a chinoiserie-inspired print from Thibaut Wallcovering “to add interest and whimsy to this pool bath.”
Take a cue from your garden and embrace a floral print, another retro look that is having a moment according to Mary Gordon, vice president of InSite Builders & Remodeling. “Large-scale patterns and modern colors are transforming powder rooms and accent walls into statement spaces,” she adds.
Glass Floor Tiles
Tramp Studio
Why not turn back time and embrace a look from 30 to 40 years ago? “Glass mosaics were big in the 80s and 90s, and now we are seeing more glass tiles being used in full-sized tile formats,” says Linette Dai, the founder of Linette Dai Design. There’s no reason your flooring can’t have a personality of its own, after all.
Pink Tile
Robert Radifera
The tile fun doesn’t stop with mosaics. “One surprising revival is pink tile, a 1950s favorite inspired by First Lady Mamie Eisenhower’s love of the color,” Gordon shares. “Soft shades like blush and dusty rose are paired with neutrals or bold accents to create bathrooms that feel both fresh and nostalgic.”
Nadia Subaran, principal and senior designer at Aidan Design, wove pink Fireclay tile into her own home’s bathroom, shown above.
Warm Metallic Finishes
Nova Soul Imagery
Bring on the brass and gold. “Warm metallic finishes are reclaiming their 1970s popularity,” Gordon says. “Replacing cooler tones like chrome, these metals add elegance and richness to faucets, fixtures, and hardware.”
Monochromatic Bathrooms
Eric Rorer
Why not pick a hue you love and drench your entire bathroom in it? “Monochromatic bathrooms are making a comeback,” says Corine Maggio, the founder of CM Natural Designs. “I remember my aunt’s house from the 1950s and there was the pink bathroom and the green bathroom. I’m here for this comeback, especially when given a bit of a modern facelift!” Try a tone-on-tone approach for a more contemporary interpretation of this style.
