Hyundai Motor and Kia have once again confirmed their standing in the global design arena by winning a total of nine awards at the highly prestigious 2025 IDEA Design Awards.

Organized by the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA), the IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) is recognized as one of the three major design competitions worldwide, alongside Germany’s iF Design Award and the Red Dot Award. Since its inception in 1980, the IDEA Awards have celebrated innovation across various categories, evaluating aspects such as technological innovation, user benefits, and social responsibility to select the best designs each year.

At this year’s competition, Hyundai Motor and Kia secured two Silver Awards, one Bronze Award, five Finalist mentions, and the Curator’s Choice Award. These recognitions span a variety of categories including Automotive & Transportation, Environments, Commercial & Industrial, and Service Design, demonstrating their exceptional global design competitiveness.

In the Automotive & Transportation section, Kia’s PV5 WKNDR concept received a Silver Award, while Hyundai’s Ioniq 9 took home a Bronze. The new Palisade and Hyundai’s hydrogen fuel cell concept car, Inisiyum, were recognized as Finalists.

The PV5 WKNDR concept, a vehicle beyond just a platform (Platform Beyond Vehicle, PBV), features a modular design that allows flexible interior and exterior configurations, coupled with energy solutions like solar panels, making it a practical, scalable, and sustainable off-road electric adventure van.

The Ioniq 9, inspired by the shape of a boat, combines a sleek exterior profile with a spacious, cozy interior. Its aerosthetic silhouette optimizes airflow while providing ample space for passengers.

In the Environment category, Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore’s CX Smart Farm won both a Silver Award and the Curator’s Choice Award, the only project to earn that distinction this year. The smart farm utilizes robotics and experiential design to embody sustainability and future mobility visions, allowing visitors to experience the entire lifecycle of plant growth, from seed planting to harvest and tasting, emphasizing human-centered technology.

Additionally, Hyundai’s Robotics Lab received a Finalist award for the X-ble Shoulder robotic device in the Commercial & Industrial category, and Hyundai’s Autonomous Charging Robot Service (ACR) earned a Finalist in Service Design.

A Hyundai Motor Group spokesperson commented, “This achievement reflects our design philosophy and vision for the future. We will continue to innovate in creating differentiated value and transforming customer experiences through unconventional and future-oriented design approaches.”
